Bitcoin to become legal tender in El Salvador on September 7
El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele said on Thursday that a recently passed law making bitcoin legal tender will be effective from September 7, 2021. El Salvador is the first country to accept the largest cryptocurrency as legal tender.
